About: Babatunde Joseph Onase (Baba.T)


Babatunde is a highly skilled and motivated civil engineer passionate about Construction (To build) and Asphalt Materials. He holds a Diploma in Civil Engineering (Distinction) and a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Agriculture in Makurdi, Nigeria, where he graduated with First Class Honors. He is pursuing a Master’s in Transportation and Civil Infrastructure Systems from the University of Delaware.
Babatunde served as an Intern at the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) in the summer of 2022, gaining extensive knowledge in construction management, project coordination, asphalt materials, and technology research. At DelDOT, he conducted mix design for 0%, 25%, 50%, and 100% percentages of Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement and has performed quality control inspections in four hot mix asphalt plants in Delaware, United States.
Additionally, he has experience in data collection and analysis, as well as experience in using engineering tools such as Microstation, Synchro, Vissim, and AutoCAD.
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, Babatunde has instructed 50 students in laboratory sessions, graded and moderated over 100 students’  attendance as teaching assistant. He has also coordinated and instructed 75 students using highway capacity manual software, graded 80 students’ assignment scripts, and participated in weekly office hours with students.
Babatunde has also gained hands-on experience as a Graduate Research Assistant, performing novel research on moisture susceptibility in Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement using Binary Image Processing Technique. He has gathered and reviewed literature from scientific journals, designed research and experimental studies, and has extensive experience using Python programming language, MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), and JMP software.
Babatunde is a PMEC Project Management Essentials Certified, OSHA 30 certified, and American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) member. He also holds a driver’s license and possesses excellent soft skills such as teamwork, drive and initiative, leadership, report writing, and communication.
